Our Privacy-First Approach to Relationship Data
When we started building Zethko, we knew we were asking users to trust us with something precious: their relationships. This is not just data - it is the story of who you know, how you met, and the moments you have shared together.
That responsibility weighs heavily on us. Here is how we approach it.
Trust as a Foundation
Trust is the foundation of every meaningful relationship - including the one between you and Zethko. We cannot ask you to trust us with your relationship data if we are not transparent about how we handle it.
That is why we are publishing this detailed overview of our privacy practices. No legal jargon, no hidden clauses - just a straightforward explanation of what we do and why.
Our Core Privacy Principles
1. Your Data Belongs to You
This might seem obvious, but it is not how most companies operate. At Zethko: - You can export all your data at any time in standard formats - You can delete your account and all associated data with one click - We will never hold your data hostage to keep you on the platform
2. We Never Sell Your Data
Period. Full stop. Your relationship data will never be sold to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else. Our business model is simple: you pay for the service, and we provide value. We do not need to monetise your data because you are our customer, not our product.
3. Minimal Data Collection
We only collect what we need to provide the service. We do not track your browsing history, we do not sell your information to third parties, and we do not build advertising profiles.
4. End-to-End Encryption
All sensitive data is encrypted both in transit and at rest. Your relationship data is encrypted using keys that only you control. Even our own engineers cannot read your data.
How We Handle Different Types of Data
Email Integration
When you connect your email to Zethko, we: - Process emails to extract relationship signals (who you communicate with, when, how often) - Never store the full content of your emails - Only retain metadata and AI-generated summaries - Allow you to exclude specific contacts or domains from processing
Calendar Integration
We use calendar data to: - Understand your meeting patterns - Provide context before meetings - Suggest optimal times for follow-ups
We never share your calendar availability with anyone without your explicit permission.
Contact Information
Contact details are stored encrypted and are only used to help you manage your relationships. We never import contacts without your permission, and you can remove any contact at any time.
Security Measures
Beyond encryption, we employ multiple layers of security:
Infrastructure Security
- All data is hosted on enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure (AWS) - Regular security audits by third-party firms - 24/7 monitoring for suspicious activity - Automatic backups with encryption
Access Controls
- Strict role-based access controls for our team - All access to production systems is logged and audited - Regular security training for all employees
Compliance
- GDPR compliant - Working towards SOC 2 Type II certification - Regular penetration testing
Your Controls
We believe in giving you granular control over your data:
Connection Permissions: Choose exactly which data sources to connect. Email only? Calendar only? You decide.
Contact Exclusions: Mark specific contacts or domains as excluded. They will never be processed or stored.
Data Retention: Set how long we retain different types of data. Want us to automatically delete interaction history after 90 days? You can do that.
Export and Delete: Export your complete data archive or delete everything with a single click.
AI and Your Data
Zethko uses AI to provide intelligent insights. Here is how we handle AI processing:
- •AI models are trained on anonymised, aggregated data - never on your personal information
- •Your individual data is processed by AI but never used to train models
- •You can opt out of AI features entirely while still using core functionality
Our Commitment
Privacy is not a feature we added - it is woven into every decision we make. From the architecture of our systems to the design of our interfaces, we always ask: "What is the most privacy-respecting way to do this?"
We know that earning your trust takes time. We are committed to being transparent about our practices, responsive to your concerns, and vigilant in protecting your data.
If you have any questions about how we handle your data, please reach out through our contact form. We read every message and are happy to explain any aspect of our privacy practices in more detail.
Your relationships are precious. We will treat them that way.
